Event Hosting Information

There are a lot of events in the newsletter every month, but maybe there's something else you would like to see.  If so, how about running an event yourself?  We'll help you every step of the way if needed.  Here is an easy guide for hosting/organizing an event:

  1. Decide what type event you want to run, and when.  There are three major categories: Family Activities (FA), Program & Education (P&E), and Parent Activity (PA)  Note: You may want to have in mind a few members (and maybe discuss it with them) when coming up with an event idea.

  2. Contact the director for that activity type.  Names and phone numbers are listed in the newsletter.  (For security reasons, we do not post last names or phone numbers on the web.)

  3. Work with the director to refine the event, and find the best date/time to hold it.  If it is an outdoor FA event, have an alternate plan in case of bad weather.

  4. Once the director approves the event, create a write-up.  The director can help with that if needed.

  5. Talk up event to your friends in PWP.  Let them know you are running an event.  (This is where it might be helpful to have already discussed your event idea with them.)

  6. Show up early, sign in everyone, and most of all, Have Fun!

Download PWP Sign-In Sheets in MS Excel 97 format (zipped) or view them directly. Print them double sided using the duplex option if available on your printer, or manually printing page one, then reloading the same sheet for page two.

  (Talk it up.) Contact name and phone number.  Event Cost (if any). Subsidy (if any).  PWP Cost (if any).
